But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)

Reflection

This verse describes a deliberate exchange. Jesus Christ didn’t suffer because of a tragic mistake or a lost battle; He stepped into the line of fire on our behalf. Every wound He carried was caused by our rebellion and every bruise was the weight of our failures. God is holy, but He is also deeply in love with us. Instead of leaving us to face the consequences of our own choices, Jesus took the punishment meant for us so that we could be made whole. He didn’t do this for a select few, but for every person who has ever lived. His sacrifice paid the debt for the entire world, removing the barrier between us and God. Peace with God is now a gift sitting right in front of you. You are free to reach out and take it. Jesus is alive, and His invitation is open to everyone, without exception. Consider what His sacrifice means for your life; He is ready to welcome you home the moment you turn to Him.
