“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
Matthew 5:14 (KJV New Testament)
Reflection
When Christ calls us the light of the world, He is not describing a legal status, but the radiance of His own life dwelling within us. By His Resurrection, He has trampled down death, shattering the darkness that once held our nature captive. Salvation is the Great Physician healing our fractured souls, restoring us to a communion so profound that we become "partakers of the divine nature." This light is not our own; it is the fire of the Holy Spirit warming a heart that has freely chosen to cooperate with grace. As we ascend the hill of the virtues, our lives become a city where God and man meet. This transformation, or theosis, is a gift to be nurtured through prayer and love. Therefore, cast off every shadow and turn toward Christ.
