Holy Scripture
Obadiah 1:2
A church father on this verse
“Obadiah shows here that the Edomites must be subjected to captivity because of their pride and the enmity they held against their brothers. In a different sense he says that the devil is made least, as the words that follow are extremely suitable to him as well.”

1The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God to Edom; I have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent forth a message to the nations.
— Obadiah 1:2 —
3Behold, I have made thee small among the Gentiles: thou art greatly dishonored. The pride of thy heart has elated thee, dwelling as thou dost in the holes of the rocks, as one that exalts his habitation, saying in his heart, Who will bring me down to the ground?
4If thou shouldest mount up as the eagle, and if thou shouldest make thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.
